In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs during the course of the space of six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music did not just draw interest back to the genre, but also to Latin music generally. In 2015 there were two mostly songs with Spanish lyrics on the Billboard Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. Despacito's popularity Despacito was at its highest in 2017. In 2020 there will be 41 primarily Spanish songs are expected to make it into the top 100. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after famous artists started working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). A few performers of reggaeton have criticized the shift to mainstream music in 2020. A new group, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other genres.
